The country is facing power shortages this summer because its 50 nuclear reactors have been taken offline.

Rural ICT project launched in Uganda

Armando Angulibo, Training Coordinator, commented on the exercise, saying it was projected towards community empowerment through the use of ICT.

Malaysia: Three Mexicans among five sentenced to death

Police arrested the men in a drug-making facility in 2008. They claimed that they were cleaners and not making drugs.

Viettel launches their first mobile network in Africa

Movitel-launch-in-AfricaVietnam-based Viettel announced in Maputo, Mozambique, the official launch of Movitel – the group’s first mobile network in Africa to join its already flourishing networks in Asia and Latin America.

In just over a year since being licensed, Viettel has built 12,600 kilometres of fiber optic cable and 1,800 mobile stations in Mozambique.

India ex-telecoms minister A Raja granted bail

Mr-Raja-granted-bailA court in India has granted bail to former Telecoms Minister Andimuthu Raja after 15 months in jail.

Mr Raja is accused of mis-selling telecoms licences, which auditors say cost the country about $40bn (£24.5bn). Prosecutors say he changed licences' eligibility criteria to favour certain firms in exchange for bribes in 2008. Mr Raja has denied all the charges.

Somali piracy: EU forces in first mainland raid

Iran hangs 'Israel spy' over nuclear scientist killing

Mexico violence: Monterrey police find 49 bodies

Mexico-violenceForty-nine mutilated bodies have been found dumped by a roadside near the city of Monterrey in northern Mexico.

Security officials said the 43 men and six women had been decapitated and had their hands cut off, making identification difficult.
